Role
Growing Places Indy is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that focuses on urban agriculture and sustainability. I started out at Growing Places Indy part-time as the Communications Coordinator from January - September 2021. In October, I went full-time as the Communications & Program Manager, becoming even more involved with my community and spreading awareness on urban agriculture!
Responsibilities

Managed interns and guided them in content creation.

Developed campaigns and wrote grants to gain support for initiatives.

Helped plan and host community events.

Wrote and distributed captivating press releases, articles, social media posts, and other media content.

Fostered healthy and long-term relationships with local organizations, schools, representatives, and communities.
Results

Served 20 adults and 150 youths to practice sustainable farming and grow their own food.

Helped 35 families, schools, and organizations start their own garden.

Increased number of followers, post engagement, and traffic across all social media platforms through posting consistently engaging and creative content.

400 volunteers showed up ready to help out on the farm.

Helped collect over $100K in grants and donations for all programs and initiatives.

Further establish relationships with partners such as John Boner Neighborhood Center, IndyGo Transit Center, The AMP, IUPUI, Tito's, local farms, and more.

Successfully helped launch several new initiatives, such as Plant it Forward gardening program, the Vegetabus Mobile Market campaign, Tik Tok, the Indy Night Market, the Indy Summer Market, Lil' Sprouts Kids Camp, and Dewey's Sunshine Senior Garden.
